Trust is a product requirement

Your financial life is not inventory.

Our operating standard is simple: collect less, explain more, separate advice from advertising, and keep the consumer in control.

Our baselineMinimum data.
Maximum clarity.

The trust standard

Six commitments designed into the product.

Data minimization

We ask only for information needed to produce and save a readiness plan. The pilot does not request bureau credentials, report uploads, a Social Security number or full account numbers.

Explainable actions

Every recommended action includes the reason, timing and limitation. We do not label an educational estimate as a credit score or lending decision.

Consumer control

You choose what to enter, can mark work complete, and can permanently delete your private plan and comparison workspace.

Accuracy over automation

We do not generate blanket disputes, encourage false claims or represent that accurate negative information can lawfully be erased.

Commercial transparency

Sponsored relationships are labeled. Compensation does not change objective action priority or determine which product is called best.

Secure-by-default growth

New data types, vendors and integrations require a documented need, access controls, retention limits and security review before launch.

The offer firewall

Advice and advertising occupy different lanes.

A free financial platform can have commercial partners without turning every consumer question into a sales opportunity. The separation must be visible and enforceable.

Readiness analysis

Goal and self-reported factors set the action order.

Independent layer
Optional marketplace

Eligibility, cost and suitability filters come before payout.

Consumer decision

No “pre-approved” claim without substantiation.

Planning methodology

An explainable checklist index.

The estimate is an internal educational heuristic, not a bureau score or a model validated to predict lending outcomes.

How the index is made

We start at 100 and deduct fixed amounts for the score range, payment history, utilization, negative items, inquiries and report differences you select. A near-term timeline deducts three more points. The displayed range is limited to 18–96.

Missing information stays visible

Unknown answers use fixed placeholders, not assumed facts. When fewer than four of the six factors are provided, we show an action plan without a number. That four-factor rule is a product display rule, not a statistical confidence threshold.

How to use it

Use the ordered tasks to organize your preparation and verify source information. The index does not include verified income, expenses, lender criteria or current bureau data. It cannot establish affordability, eligibility, approval odds or a particular score change.

Pilot boundaries

BorrowAware currently provides self-service educational planning and organization tools. It is not a consumer reporting agency, lender, mortgage broker, financial adviser, law firm or credit-repair organization. It does not determine eligibility or guarantee outcomes.

Security pathway

Before adding report uploads, external bureau data, payments or broad public authentication, the product roadmap requires fintech counsel review, a written security program, vendor assessments, incident response, access logging and applicable state/federal compliance mapping.
